Long Description:

This session will highlight and educate on the key points that need to be brought to the forefront when implementing a stable and reliable large format display.  The focus will be on how the chosen display technology changes and impacts the physical implementation as it relates to both the building and the display mounting structure.  With existing LED based on NPP SMD technologies (narrow pixel pitch surface mount diode), the tolerances and expansions were more controlled, and the design and implementation workflows could be traditional in nature.  New technologies, µLED and OLED are breaking those workflows and forcing a set of decisions that weren’t even a discussion item in prior technologies.  The use of real world examples, and supportive mathematics will show how µLED and ultra thin glass displays are placing increasingly tight tolerances as it relates to isolation of movement, building and structure deflection, thermal expansion, thermal stability, design workflows, and task luminance.  Leading to a new reality that the agreed upon outcome, drives the predesign process.
